Webmasters are always curious to know difference between a normal link from one page to another page and a 301 redirect of one page to another page. The question is very clear that a 301 Redirect of Web Page Gain or Loss in Pagerank but answer is always not clear :(. This question comes in mind while we do not want to keep any existing link anymore or can say we are creating a new web page for same topic and while creating new page we do not not want to loose our hard work which we did to optimize previous web page which we do not want to use anymore.
Its always clueless to tell how much page rank we gain or loss when we do a 301 redirect of one page to another page and same if we do put a normal link on previous page to gain the Google juice for page rank. Google never provide exact information to webmasters except few clues only. Till now it was assumed according to provided information that a normal link passes more page rank compare to a 301 redirect for gaining pagerank.
But a recent video posted by Google Web Spam head Matt Cutts in response to a question and according to that their is no difference between a Normal link and a 301 redirects. The same algorithm applies in both conditions while providing page rank benefit to new page.
Here is what he said “The amount of PageRank that dissipates through a 301 is currently identical to the amount of PageRank that dissipates through a link.”

So according to him their is no difference between a 301 redirect and a normal link. But for sure after viewing the video its really unclear to know exactly what he want to say on this topic. Hope we will get a clear answer in future on this and other topics which are always unclear to webmasters.
